This is not a social justice blog. Not really. This is essentially where I reblog everything that seems important and that I can't help wanting to share in some way, usually having to do with some sort of evil bullsh!t or resistance against evil bullsh!t. It is in many ways more of a practice for my own mental health than anything. Sigh. Truth
This is not true at all. For example, when Gabby Douglas won the gold medal at the Olympics, many Black people made facebook statuses or tweets or blog posts about how proud we were to see a Black girl make such an achievement. And guess what response we got from white pople? We did not get a “Good for you man!” from some illusionary, happy white guy. What we got were vicious comments saying things like “Why does it always have to be about race?” or “Why can’t we proud that she’s just an AMERICAN?”. So yeah, STFU with this bullshit argument. PoC are told constantly not to be proud of their heritage, which is heavily degraded and appropriated by white people anyway.
